Safer Clubbing

If you choose to use drugs as part of an evening out clubbing you are likely to be safer if you follow these simple steps.

If you are using ecstasy, take ½ pill first to see how strong it is. Even if you have taken pills that looked the same before, you can’t be sure of what is in them. Wait 45 mins before taking the other ½.
Stimulant drugs (E, speed, cocaine etc.) make your body temperature rise. If you are dancing in a hot club, your body will get even hotter. To keep your temperature down, if you are dancing sip a pint of water or isotonic drink over every hour.

Take regular breaks from dancing to cool down.
Avoid alcohol

If you feel yourself getting hot and notice that you are not sweating, getting a headache, dizziness, confusion & restlessness you could be experiencing heat stoke. Take time out, sit down somewhere cool, loosen any tight clothing and sip cool water. It may also help to splash tepid water on the back of your neck or face.
Avoid cooling down too quickly as shock might set in.
If this does not work – seek medical help.
Clubs should now provide a cooler area and free and accessible tap water.
